Welcome to the online nomination site for the 2019 Election to the Council of Governors. The Trust is inviting nominations for the following Public Constituencies and Classes of the Staff Constituency.
Classes of the Staff Constituency:
The Council of Governors collectively ensures that NELFT hears the views of, and is accountable to, patients, carers, staff and communities. Governors provide a vital link between local populations and the Board of Directors by representing the members in their constituency, allowing them to influence service development to ensure that it meets their needs.Governors are elected for a term of three years, after which they can be re-elected. Governors are provided with an induction, a pack of useful materials, and training and development in order to fulfil their role.The Council of Governors meets formally four times a year in order to carry out its statutory duties. As well as this governors are invited to attend Governor Information and Development Forums which take place six times a year and also have the opportunity to attend further external training on an ad hoc basis. The Trust encourages nominations from a wide variety of individuals with different experiences and circumstances, and therefore tries to make the role possible for all. The Governor role is voluntary, meaning that payment will not be received, but relevant expenses can be claimed.To find out more about the role, please read the links below in the Important Documents section.
