BACO Awards 2020

If your nominee is not an ENT UK member, he or she can become so by visiting the ENT UK website. Allied professionals can join for as little as £6.25 per month. 

Rising star award

This award is to celebrate a colleague who shows early signs of brilliance and promise. They’ve shone in more than one area. Their activities may have been innovative and self-directed, or represent a significant contribution to the specialty. They may be a medical student or trainee. Their approach is modern and inclusive. They have a bright future in ENT.

Eligible for nomination:

  • Core Trainee or Higher Trainee (must be an ENT UK member)
  • Medical Student or Foundation doctor (must be an ENT UK member).

Outstanding trainer award

This award is to recognise a trainer who is supportive and inspiring to trainees. They go above and beyond in their role as a trainer. They’re probably an unsung hero, always doing their best to support and guide others. They are inclusive and innovative. Their skills are outstanding in clinical, surgical and non-technical areas, making them an ideal role model for medical students and trainees.

Eligible for nomination:

  • ENT Consultants (must be an ENT UK member)

Global health award

This person or team has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to Global Health. Their activities and initiatives support and promote sustainability in Global Health, including the training and/or employment of colleagues in developing countries. They are committed to improving health provision and health education in developing countries through inclusion and partnership.

Eligible for nomination:

  • Any ENT UK Member

Innovation in otolaryngology award

This person or team has demonstrated original thought and innovation in pursuing their area of interest within the specialty. Their innovative activities may be in any area of their work (e.g. clinical / surgical / administrative / teaching / research / technology). Their projects are truly original and have been pursued with passion. They deserve recognition for their innovative idea or approach.

Eligible for nomination:

  • Any ENT UK Member

BACO award for top ENT allied professional

This is your opportunity to nominate a colleague who is not an ENT surgeon but who has made a substantial contribution to the work of your team, or to the wider field of ENT. They may be an audiologist, SALT, research scientist, nurse, patient representative, charity worker, or any ENT allied colleague whom you feel is worthy of the recognition of BACO.

Eligible for nomination:

  • Allied professional (must be an ENT UK member)
